The Bihar Police has arrested the person who threatened to blow up Varanasi’s Lal Bahadur Shastri International Airport and other airports of the country and important places like the Prime Minister’s and Rashtrapati Bhavan in a drone attack. The accused has been identified as Vineet Kumar, a resident of Tilha Mahaveer Beldari Tola in Gaya district. Vinit has been produced in the court and sent to jail in judicial custody.
Last week, Varanasi Airport Director Aryama Sanyal received a threatening letter. In the letter, threats were made to blow up Varanasi’s Lal Bahadur Shastri International Airport, Gaya International Airport and other airports of the country, important places like Prime Minister and Rashtrapati Bhavan and other railway stations including Patna and Darbhanga by drone attack. Its investigation was started by the police of Magadh Medical Station in Gaya district of Bihar.
Gaya SSP Ashish Bharti said that the letter was traced with the help of the postal department. Based on the facts that came to light, the investigation was started by taking the accused Vinit Kumar into custody. Vinit Kumar told that he has been an engineer in the Irrigation Department in the past. Due to financial irregularities, he was arrested and sent to jail. He had sent a letter threatening drone strikes to spread fear among the common people and trap his enemies. A copy of the threatening letter, other papers and mobile have been recovered from Vinit’s house. Vinit has gone to jail in November 2015 from Jabalpur in Madhya Pradesh under the Explosive Substances Act. Vinit has six cases registered against him on criminal charges.
